The Executive Board heard the latest updates from the Olympic Program Commission, the Coordination Committees, and the organizing committees of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and the 2030 France Alps Olympics. The IOC Executive Board (EB) approved the competition program and athlete quotas for LA28. The total number of medal events in LA28 is 351, 22 more than the 329 in the 2024 Paris Olympics. The core athlete quota remains at 10,500, and an additional 698 quotas have been allocated for the five sports proposed by the LA28 organizing committee: baseball/softball, cricket, flag football, lacrosse, and squash. For the first time ever, the number of female teams in all team sports is at least equal to that of male teams, with two additional women's water polo teams added.

 

During the meeting, the IOC Executive Board also approved the IOC's co - signature of the host contract for the 2030 France Alps Olympics. This is an important milestone, marking the official start of work and participation of the newly - established organizing committee.
